It happened just before 5:30 p.m. on northbound Roosevelt Boulevard near Strahle Street.
Police say a 58-year-old West Philadelphia woman lost control of her vehicle, hit another car, and then crashed into a tree.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her name is not being released until family is notified.
No other injuries were reported.
Police continue to investigate.
