Police say 38-year-old David Brown of New Field was hit by a car and killed as he tried to fix his car on the side of Tuckahoe Road. The striking car fled the scene.
Upon further investigation, police arrived at 50-year-old Linda Demarest's residence in the area of the accident.
When they arrived on scene, Demarest attempted to flee from police, but struck a pole.
Police were able to arrest her and charge her with driving under the influence.
State Police believe the damage to her car connects her to be the driver of the vehicle that struck and killed Brown.
She has not yet been charged with this incident, however police continue to investigate.
Demarest was released from police custody pending further investigation.
