Thirty-seven-year-old Jody Bennett, of Mentcle, received two years' probation after pleading guilty to institutional vandalism and theft on Thursday. But he was also sentenced by an Indiana County judge to 30 days to six months in jail for unrelated drunken driving and drug possession charges.
Bennett says he feels "horrible for what I did and I apologize."
Police say Bennett grabbed the items from the casket of 17-year-old Bradley McCombs during a viewing at a funeral home about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. Police recovered the items which had sentimental value to the boy's family.
