Liam Neeson's cameo replaced in "Hangover II"

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - April 11, 2011

It's been replaced by one from Nick Cassavetes.

"Hangover" director Todd Phillips tells Variety the cameo had to be changed because, during editing, he pulled the scene right after it.

At that point, three weeks ago, he knew the cameo would need to be reshot with more information in it so the new scene that follows would work.

But, Phillips says Liam Neeson was in London filming the sequel to "Clash of the Titans."

Since "The Hangover II" comes out Memorial Day weekend, he had to move fast and decided to go with Nick Cassavetes.

Before Neeson and before Cassavetes, the plan was for Mel Gibson to do the cameo.
