Police: Robbers forced man to buy smokes

PHILADELPHIA - May 27, 2011

The robbery happened around 1:00 a.m. Tuesday in the area of 4717 Cedar Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia.

Police say the suspects approached the man and one pulled a gun on the victim, took his cell phone, and walked him to the Sunoco gas station at 45th and Baltimore where they tried to make him withdraw money from an ATM.

Then, police say, the men forced the victim to buy cigarettes and cigars on his credit card.

The group then left the store and the bandits ordered the victim down on the ground on 46th Street as they fled on foot.

The armed suspect is described as a black male in his mid 20's, standing about 5'10" tall and weighing 160 pounds. He had afro-style hair and was wearing a black polo shirt and dark blue jeans.

The other suspect is also described as a black male in his 20's. He stood about 6'2" tall weighing 200 pounds. He had short hair and was wearing a black hoodie with black pants that had white stripes.
