Philly cop arrested for assaulting girlfriend, ex-wife

PHILADELPHIA - June 3, 2011

Philadelphia Police Officer Howard Lomax was arrested Thursday for allegedly assaulting his live-in girlfriend inside their residence on Wednesday, April 20, 2011.

Police say four days later on Sunday, April 24, while off duty and in restricted duty status, Lomax visited his estranged wife at her residence and physically assaulted her inside.

After an investigation by the Department's Internal Affairs Bureau and the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, Lomax was charged with two counts of Simple Assault and two counts of Recklessly Endangering another Person.

Lomax is 40- years old and a 17- year veteran of the Department, assigned to the Center City District.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey has suspended Lomax for 30 days with the intent to dismiss.
