City council members passed a resolution Monday night, authorizing a two year lease agreement. The action follows last Fall's flood in the building.
After months of debate from Flint City Council last month, the decision now lies with the County Board of Commissioners.
Chairman Jamie Curtis told ABC12 they will vote on the proposal Wednesday.
"I believe that this means that we're going to wind up getting back in the building .... My understanding is they're going to reduce the number of security personnel from 5.18 .... to about 4.5," said 68th District Court Chief Judge Archie Hayman.
Building security and finances are still being worked through.
"There is no excess space at all. The public will be paying for exactly what they need," added Hayman.
City Attorney Pete Bade says Flint will pay about $500,000 a year, saving about $240,000 yearly compared to the last lease.
The lease proposal is for two years, along with the option to renew.
City Hall and Tech Centre court operations would move back there, with a start date of July 1 on the proposed lease.
