Investigators are working to determine if an elderly woman's death in Philadelphia could have been caused by the heat.

The woman, only identified as a 73-year-old, was found dead in her home in the 5400 block of Sylvester Street in the Oxford Circle section of the city on Sunday afternoon.

Neighbors say they had not see the woman for a couple of days, so they looked into one of her windows and saw what appeared to be her body.

Police came, broke in the door and discovered she was dead.

Neighbors say, it has been frustrating trying to help the woman.

"All we were trying to do was get the lady help. All she said, 'I've been here 43 years. You're not going to take my home away from me,'" said Melanie Grant. "But look at her now."

Neighbors say a number of city agencies had gone to the woman's house to try to help her.
