Ex-owner of playhouse charged with insurance fraud

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - September 23, 2011

The Intelligencer of Doylestown reports wire fraud and money laundering charges were filed earlier this month against Ralph Miller. Federal prosecutors say Miller reported bogus damage to several dozen lights at the Bucks County Playhouse after heavy rains flooded the Delaware River and inundated the theater.

Miller tells The Intelligencer he hired adjusters to do the work and did nothing wrong.

Miller lost the playhouse to a sheriff's sale in December, a year after his Pocono Playhouse in Monroe County was destroyed by fire.

A jury trial is scheduled for November.
