Two-alarm fire in Trenton senior citizen complex

TRENTON, N.J. - November 6, 2011

It happened around 1:00 a.m. at the Trent Center East Apartments on the 500 block of Greenwood Avenue.

The flames broke out on the 9th floor of the complex.

Crews battled the blaze for nearly 20 minutes before getting the upper hand.

Firefighters rescued a male victim, who was found on the sofa where the fire originated.

The victim was taken to Helene-Fuld Medical Center, with severe burns on his entire body. He is listed in critical condition.

No one else was injured but several other residents were evacuated from the building.

So far, no word on what sparked the fire.
