Police: 5 killed in crash in central Pennsylvania

NEW OXFORD, Pa. (AP) - December 5, 2011

The accident happened around 3 p.m. Monday near New Oxford in Adams County, about 2 miles from the New Oxford High School campus. Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Michele Davis would not release the names and ages of the victims, pending the notification of family.

Witnesses told police a car traveling north on Route 94 crossed into the southbound lanes and collided with a pickup truck towing an empty trailer. The driver and four other occupants of the car were killed; four people in the pickup were unhurt. Police don't suspect drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the crash.

The Evening Sun of Hanover reports that at least some of the victims are believed to be teens. The Gettysburg Times reports Conewago Valley School District officials were at the scene.

A message left by The Associated Press for the county coroner Monday was not immediately returned.
