PHILADELPHIA - January 12, 2012

A jury convicted 35-year-old David Ballard of mail fraud and aggravated identity theft on Wednesday in a scam that involving more than $55,000 in fraudulently purchased merchandise.

Investigators say Ballard had the names, addresses, social security numbers and other identifying information for more than 1,300 people when he was arrested in April.

Ballard allegedly used that information to open credit accounts and purchase expensive electronics.

Ballard faces at least two years in prison at his sentencing scheduled for April 11.
