1st night of Feb. brings warm temps, outdoor dining

February 1, 2012

It was what most people were talking about as they rolled up their sleeves and spent as much time as possible outdoors.

"I walked outside, and I'm like, 'Wow, it feels great. I'm going to do some stuff," said Brandon Barrett.

And he wasn't the only one. 60 degree temperatures found many people dining outside in Northern Liberties and South Street Wednesday night.

Cheesesteak lovers were not freezing while they enjoyed steaks at Geno's in South Philadelphia in February.

And along the Schuylkill River, bikers, runners and strollers packed the trail.

"I had to get a run in, and it was my fastest one in a while," said William Reed.

That's what happens when you shed some of those winter layers.

"It feels like spring is right around the corner, but of course we know it's isn't so it's beautiful out so why not enjoy it today," Reed said.

That is why Bobby Dabrowski from Washington Township, New Jersey brought his family over the bridge to the city to enjoy the break from winter while they could.

While everyone is waiting to hear what the groundhog will see on Thursday, 60 degree temps have people hoping that winter is over.
