Police say at about 2:30 on Friday morning, the vehicles slammed into each other on the westbound lanes of the highway near the Montgomery Drive exit.
The three victims ended up trapped in their cars.
Rescue workers had to cut through the wreckage to reach them.
The injured include a 21-year-old woman, and two men, ages 22 and 23.
Investigators are trying to determine what led to the crash.
