Couple robbed in Haverford home invasion

HAVERFORD, Pa. - April 27, 2012

It happened around 10:00 p.m. on the 600 block of Paddock Road.

Authorities say the victims - a married couple and their son - were in a second floor bedroom when they heard a crash near the front door of their home.

The victims told police that four to five men wearing black clothes and ski masks came in demanding money. One of the men was armed with a gun.

"When the woman was down on her knees and tied, the actor reached into her back pocket and removed her wallet which had an undetermined amount of cash," said Sgt. Shant Bedrossian.

The woman's husband was able to escape to a different room and call 911.

Witnesses at the scene say the masked men escaped in a grey 4-door sedan.

The couple owns a tiny restaurant at 60th and Vine streets in West Philadelphia and police believe the suspects somehow followed the victims.

In March, the owners of a beer and electronics business nearby on Vine Street, were also the victims of a brutal home invasion.

After closing up their store, the owners were jumped as they arrived home.

One of the victims spoke with Action News but did not want his face shown on camera. Disguising his identity, we'll refer to him as "Kenny."

"They started beating me and asking me for more money," he said.

"Kenny" and his wife were robbed out of $31,000 and says he is still afraid.

"Money is not important. What if they come back to us again - to my house, where I work? Right not I've been more careful," he said.

Police in Philadelphia and Haverford both believe that "Kenny" and his wife were followed from their business and are now questioning if the same suspects were involved in Thursday's incident.
