Delaware State Police have arrested a suspected serial church burglar in Wilmington.

Michael G. McGowan, 52, of Pottstown, Pa. was arrested Tuesday morning as he was walking along Route 202, about one mile from the Church of the Holy Child on Naamans Road in Wilmington.

Police say McGowan was seen on surveillance video breaking into that church at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, stealing money from collection boxes and fleeing.

They say McGowan did the same thing at the same church twice before, on Monday July 2nd and Monday June 25th.

McGowan has been charged with 3rd degree burglary, theft, and related charges.

He is behind bars at the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $7,500 bail.
