Wildwood-area shops face synthetic pot charges

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - July 11, 2012

Authorities say the arrests were made Tuesday at the stores along the Wildwood boardwalk and nearby Rio Grande. Investigators seized nearly 1,600 packets of suspected synthetic marijuana and other substances, along with $121,000 in cash, 11 firearms and drug paraphernalia.

The suspects allegedly sold packets with names like "Jersey Shore," ''K2" and "Rehab" to undercover investigators, and allegedly claimed the substances would provide a marijuana-like high.

New Jersey law bans all variants of synthetic marijuana.
