Forecasters expect that a major storm headed for New England will bring a mixture of rain, snow and ice to parts of Pennsylvania.

In the Poconos, where more than a foot could fall, the weather has already led to school closings and delays Friday. A winter storm warning has also been issued north of Philadelphia, where snow is expected to start falling Friday night and into Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service expects the storm to bring rain to many areas during the day, changing over to heavy snow late afternoon or early evening, just in time for the evening commute. Winds gusting to 30 mph could cause blowing and drifting.

Winter weather advisories are also in effect for parts of central and western Pennsylvania.
