The incident happened around midnight in the 500 block of Chews Landing Road.
Officers found the victim in the parking lot of the Tamerlane Apartments with severe head injuries.
Medics rushed him to Cooper University Hospital in critical condition.
There was no immediate word on arrests or a possible motive.
An investigation is underway.
