City to get some new weed eaters

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - January 20, 2014

Local county officials are going to try goats to control the overgrowth at retention ponds.

A pilot program will have two teams of three goats each in fenced areas.

Richmond County Board of Health Chairman Elijah Lightfoot says the goats might work too well.

He tells The Augusta Chronicle the goats will eat everything down to the dirt.

He says the animals will be monitored to keep their appetites under control.
