No delay for hearing on removing Trenton mayor Tony Mack

TRENTON, N.J. - February 21, 2014

The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

In a letter this week, Mayor Tony Mack asked for more time, saying he didn't have a lawyer.

He said his city's legal department told him he could not use the city taxpayer money to pay for representation without the council's approval.

Mayor Tony Mack was convicted of bribery, fraud and extortion two weeks ago.

Under state law, people convicted of corruption cannot continue to hold public office.

But since Mack has refused to step down, the state has been forced to go to court to have him removed.
