VIDEO: Managing pre-diabetes
Did you know a diagnosis of pre-diabetes can be turned around?

Diabetes, if uncontrolled, can lead to serious health problems.

But did you know a diagnosis of pre-diabetes can be turned around?

A government study found 12 to 14 percent of adults have diabetes, but about 40 percent have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes.

What can the 40 percent do to prevent full-blown diabetes?

Lifestyle changes including a healthier diet, losing weight and exercise can all help prevent pre-diabetes from escalating into a full diagnosis.

Adopting a healthier lifestyle can also help lower your risk for heart disease, kidney failure and even blindness.

However, the study also found many people aren't aware they are at risk.

Be sure to talk to your health care provider to know where you stand.
