Fire injures 4 adults, 4 children

NORTH PHILADELPHIA - March 25, 2008 The fire broke out around 6:00 this morning inside a brick house in the middle of the row.

Neighbor Bill McLeod says the fire's popping and crackling sounds awakened him.

McLeod and other neighbors rushed outside, grabbing ladders to help 4 adults and 4 children escape from the roof and second floor.

The victims were taken to Temple University Hospital. Building owner Celsa Rosario went to visit them there. She says she's thankful none of her tenants was seriously injured.

Firefighters had the fire under control in about a half-hour. One adjoining house had minor fire damage. The other sustained some smoke and water damage.

The Red Cross is providing shelter for 14 people from the two houses that sustained most of the damage.
