Argall to be sworn in as Pa. state senator

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - March 17, 2009 David Argall won a special election to fill the seat of Sen. Jim Rhoades, who died of injuries suffered in an October car crash.

Argall has been a state representative for 24 years, and has held the positions of GOP whip, Appropriations Committee chairman and caucus chairman.

The Senate district includes all of Schuylkill and parts of Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe and Northampton counties.

Argall is to be sworn into office on Tuesday.

A special election for Argall's House seat has not been scheduled yet, but it could be held May 19, the same day as the primary.
