Man arrested for shooting son-in-law

MARPLE TWP., Pa - May 26, 2009 - Jack R. Bailey is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and simple assault along with related charges.

Police say Bailey shot his son-in-law 3 or 4 times.

Police say the man shot, and his wife, had been fighting for the previous 48 hours prior to the shooting. During that time, authorities say the wife called her father several times to complain about her husband.

After several calls, Bailey allegedly showed up at the home around 11:30 p.m. on the 2600 block of Franklin Avenue and shot the husband in the abdomen.

The husband was taken to Crozer Chester Hospital where he remains.

After being shot, police say the victim attempted to run into the home and tell his 19-year-old son that he was shot by his father-in-law.

After the shooting, Bailey fled in a black Mercedes, but was apprehended shortly before noon Tuesday.
