Electronic traffic sign stolen

NORTHAMPTON, Pa. - June 21, 2009 Police say the board was taken from Old Jacksonville Road in the vicinity of Ridgewood Place between 5:00 p.m. Thursday, June 18 and 5:00 p.m. Friday, June 19.

According to police, the board cost taxpayers $3,000.

They are worried that the device will be thrown away by whoever stole it.

The timing board is used to show motorists the speed that they are traveling and to help the Police Department collect data to determine if and when a speed issue exists.

The device, which is white in color, is approximately 12" x 20" in size and has a large screen to the front that electronically displays the speed of the motorist.

The Northampton Township Police Department asks anyone with any information regarding this theft or those responsible or where the piece of equipment may be found to call the Police Administration Building 24/7 at 215-322-6111.
