Woman attacked by raccoon outside church

WILMINGTON, Del. - January 24, 2010

Witnesses tell Action News that as she was leaving the Old Swedes Episcopal Church in Wilmington, a raccoon appeared and charged her child.

The mom jumped in front of her child and was bitten in the leg.

Parishioners say the animal may have been attracted to cat food that was left out for strays.

The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment. Her child was not hurt.

Animal Control has been called to the scene, in search of the raccoon.
