The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office says 20-year-old Matthew Tembo was pronounced dead at 1:10 p.m. Sunday. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday. The university says foul play is not suspected.
Pittsburgh police say Tembo had been celebrating a friend's birthday Saturday night. Detective Christine Williams says the friends "likely drank too much." He was found by one of the friend's roommates at the Pi Kappa Alpha house.
Tembo was a student at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, about 30 miles southeast of Carnegie Mellon. He attended Carnegie Mellon, a top-ranked university recognized for its arts and technology programs, in 2007 and 2008.
