Phillies: Lidge is day-to-day with inflammation

PHILADELPHIA - May 13, 2010

Only Action News was there as Lidge left the Novacare Complex after meeting with the team doctor on Thursday morning.

He returned to Philadelphia on Wednesday so the team doctor could examine the elbow of his pitching arm.

It's the same elbow that underwent surgery over the winter.

In the MRI performed at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, the doctors found that there were no loose bodies and no structural damage. They also found his flexor pronator surgery is healing properly.

The MRI did reveal inflammation in the lining of Lidge's elbow joint. The Phillies say his status is day-to-day.

Lidge, 33, is 0-0, 2.70 ERA with one save in four relief appearances so far this season.
