Prized picture taken with stolen car

PORT RICHMOND - July 20, 2010

A picture.

Anna Santiago has a lot of family photos, but it is the one missing picture that brings her to tears. The wedding photo of her mom and dad taken 70 years ago was inside her car when it was stolen last Friday.

Anna pleaded today for the return of the picture, saying, "If they can only return the picture. That's all I want. They can keep the car. I just want the picture."

Santiago's father passed away 20 years ago. Her mother is now 90-years-old and the picture, Santiago says, was her prized possession - the only one taken on the couple's wedding day. She gave it to her daughter to have it restored.

"It's an oval frame and it's got - the glass is like up against the picture. She thinks I still have it and I just don't have the heart to tell her," Anna said.

Santiago says she stopped at a market, located at Aramingo and Wheatsheaf, to pick up a case of water for her mother. When she came out her 1992 Plymouth Voyager was gone and so was the photo.

"Waiting for the police to show up, it took a half hour before it hit me [that] my mom's picture was in there and then I couldn't stop crying then."

The Voyager was burgundy, had tinted windows, yellow dice hanging in the back window and rosary beads in the front. The Pa. license is FLR-6777.

Anna Santiago says she knows police have more important crimes to solve and doesn't even care about the car, although without it her commute to work will be difficult. All she really wants back is her parents' wedding photograph.

"If somebody has it, please return the picture. That's all I want is the picture."
