The nearly 300-pound reptile was found in a swimming pool at a beachside home.
The pool in the Florida Keys is about only 100 feet from the beach.
It took six firefighters and two other men to catch the turtle.
They brought the reptile to the water's edge and released it.
Fire officials say the creature walked back into the Atlantic Ocean and swam away.
Experts at the Keys-based Turtle Hospital say the animal might have been confused by lights in the home.
