Siv family posts $10,000 reward for husbands killer

PHILADELPHIA - February 3, 2012

The family wants people to know about the husband, the father, the brother, and they are offering a cash reward to the person who can help police solve the case.

Outside the Olney home where he was brutally murdered, the Cambodian American family of 39 year old Sophos "Sonny" Siv has been honoring him.

Tuesday, police say an intruder or intruders broke in through the kitchen window and attacked the man.

His ankles, hands and mouth were duct taped, he was shot twice, and he was severely beaten in the head.

Siv's wife saw him that morning before she left the house. She returned around 4:30pm and found him dead.

"What they've done to him is just devastating for a human being to experience especially, having your wife walk in to find your body," said the victim's wife Sarath Keo.

Siv's family spoke exclusively with Action News and offered $10,000 for tips leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

"If anybody knows or see anything to please come forward with it, just please come forward with it," said Keo.

As the sister of the victim held their crying mother, she said Siv was a job recruiter for several companies, and not only did he help people find work, he fed them and gave them money. That's why they believe he was targeted.

"He was not a gangster, it was no gang related issue, they saw my brother, knew my brother was a helpful person and they wanted what he had," said Sopean Siv.

Siv's funeral will be held next week. His loved ones say by then, maybe someone will step up with the information that will help detectives.

"We want justice, we want justice," said Sophean.

Homicide detectives are working every lead, but they are still looking for tips. Anyone with information is asked to contact Philadelphia Police.
