Mystery odor blamed for illness at Delco apartments

SPRINGFIELD, Pa. - March 7, 2012

Emergency crews were called around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday to an apartment complex around on the 600 block of Woodland Avenue.

The fire chief tells Action News that there were six units in the building. All are evacuated.

Six people who lived in the building who were suffering from scratchy throat, nausea and eye irritation were transported to the hospital for evaluation.

The sickness is currently being blamed on an odor in the building.

Hazmat crews have not yet been able to determine the cause of the odor.

Springfield Township officials tell Action News that a private environmental company has been called to the scene to determine the cause of the odor.
