Lisa Tolin named Entertainment/Lifestyles editor

NEW YORK - March 23, 2012

Tolin, 36, joined the AP in 2000 and worked as a news researcher before becoming an editor on the national news desk. In 2005, she was tapped to join asap, AP's award-winning multimedia service that focused on alternative storytelling for younger readers. She oversaw the service's entertainment, lifestyles, business and sports coverage before being promoted to its deputy editor. In 2007, after asap was closed, she joined the lifestyles department as deputy editor and was promoted to its top editor in 2009.

AP merged the entertainment and lifestyles departments this year, and in her new role, Tolin will oversee coverage of books, television, food, fashion, travel, online culture, parenting, pets and homes and gardens.

"Lisa brings a wealth of knowledge to this role," Quarles said. "She is progressive, understands all formats and will help to improve further upon the high quality of our report."

Before the AP, Tolin worked at Facts on File News Services.

Tolin is a graduate of Barnard College and lives in Brooklyn, N.Y., with her husband and son.
