Jackknifed truck cleared from I-95

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - May 9, 2012

The accident happened around 4:00 a.m. on the highway between Academy Road and Cottman Avenue.

The fuel tank on the double FedEx tractor-trailer ruptured, leaking 125 gallons of fuel onto the roadway. Hazmat crews responded to the scene to empty the fuel tanks.

The accident closed the highway to traffic for three hours on the northbound lanes. It took another three hours to completely re-open I-95.

There are no reports of injuries.
