An Allentown police officer was attacked and beaten while trying to make an arrest tonight. The incident took place around 7:30 p.m. near the 1100 block of Utica Street in Allentown.

According to police, Officer Christopher Hendricks, 47, spotted a group of young people doing graffiti in the area.

Police said Hendricks had arrested two people and as he went to arrest the third person, they got into a scuffle.
