University officials say they will not renew the contracts of 18 pediatricians - or more than one-third of the faculty.
Department acting chairman Kendell Sprott tells The Star-Ledger of Newark it's possible some or all of the termination letters will be rescinded once the university's 2008-09 budget is approved.
If not, the doctors say the cuts will hurt families.
