Turning doughnuts up a notch

CHICAGO (AP) - January 14, 2010

It's gourmet doughnut served at Glazed Donuts Chicago.

Baker Kirsten Anderson also serves up a doughnut twist on a kids' favorite, peanut butter and jelly.

Anderson says the designer doughnuts turn something ordinary into a "luxury item."

Author and doughnut expert Paul Mullins says yuppie doughnuts can cost five or six bucks.

But he says that, by haute cuisine standards, that's not very much.
