Firefighters in southwestern Pennsylvania have rescued a horse trapped in a frozen pond.

Members of the North Strabane Township fire department's Large Animal Rescue unit helped the horse from the icy water on Tuesday in Finleyville, about 15 miles south of Pittsburgh.

The horse was trapped up to its neck and firefighters used a special sled to reach the animal and cut it free.

The horse received a clean bill of health from veterinarians.
