It happened at overnight along North 8th and Callowhill streets.
Police received reports that several shots were fired and arrived to find a 23-year-old man unconscious, suffering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
He was taken to Hahnemann Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Authorities are still unsure what sparked the shooting.
