Downed lines, transformer leak cut power in North Philadelphia

NORTH PHILADELPHIA - August 17, 2012

It happened at 1 p.m. near the intersection of Broad and Brown Streets in North Philadelphia.

Peco tells Action News that some electrical lines came down as the result of a broken cross arm at Brown and Carlisle streets.

The accident initially cut power to about fifty customers.

One transformer also began leaking a small amount of oil.

Environmental services crews responded to the site to clean up the oil according to state and federal regulations.

Peco crews have been working since Friday afternoon to repair the downed lines.

As of 6:00 p.m. Friday, power had been restored to all but 16 customers.

The utility expects power to be full restored by early Friday evening.
