Body of Philadelphia teen recovered on South Carolina coast

HUNTING ISLAND, S.C. (AP) – July 18, 2013

Authorities say the teen was one of three people who disappeared over the weekend while in the water off Hunting Island.

Investigators said a beachgoer found the body of 17-year-old Mikee Phomma of Philadelphia around noon Wednesday on a beach about 3 miles from where he was last seen Sunday.

Beaufort County deputies say Phomma was on a boogie board with his cousin, 16-year-old Nathan Mok, and Mok's father, 38-year-old Tiem Mok, both of Chesnee.

A rip current began pulling them from shore and the board slipped from beneath them. Investigators say none of the group could swim.

A 14-year-old girl on the boogie board managed to make it back to shore safely.

Nathan Mok's body was found Sunday, and Tiem Mok's body was recovered on Monday.
