New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will hold a Facebook live chat on Thursday with Dr. Anthony Fauci.

TRENTON, New Jersey (WPVI) -- New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy held a Facebook live chat on Thursday with Dr. Anthony Fauci.

The two leaders discussed the Garden State's response to the coronavirus pandemic as the United States has marked more than 200,000 deaths from the virus.

During the chat, Fauci noted that New Jersey got hit first, and hit hard, but praised the state for how it handled turned things around.

"The good news, and the thing that makes me very pleased and encouraged about New Jersey, is that notwithstanding that you got hit pretty badly. Right now, if you continue to carefully and prudently open the economy, you can get through the fall and the winter," he said.

Fauci also noted that New Jersey's positivity rate is less than 3%, which he called a very good baseline.
