Greene had been transported to the hospital on September 3rd while on-duty at Engine 37, the Department said.

Lt. Greene, 60, a veteran of the United States Army, had served the Department for 23 years on several engine and ladder companies.
In 2007, his unit at Ladder 14 received a citation for helping to rescue two people from a house fire in Brewerytown.
