PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia was awash in green on Valentine's Day to celebrate its Super Bowl champion Eagles.

Swooning fans screamed and cheered Friday as MVP quarterback Jalen Hurts and Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie took turns hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy at the start of the team's victory parade through the City of Brotherly Love.

Many fans camped out along the team's parade route overnight, huddling under blankets and inside tents to secure prime spots near the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where the Eagles took the stage on the "Rocky" steps.

"You know I told myself that when I got drafted, that I wouldn't come to the Rocky steps until I won a championship," Hurts told cheering fans. "And now we're here."

Streets mostly quiet ahead of Eagles Super Bowl parade

The streets are mostly quiet early Friday as fans start to make their way to Center City along the parade route.

Many roads are already blocked Friday morning in preparation for the Super Bowl victory parade.

City officials released a list of street closures and parking restrictions earlier this week.

The city is cautioning drivers about challenging travel conditions for the celebrations. Parking spots will be limited as well.

Road closures began on Tuesday, with many expected to last until Saturday.

A large list of streets began closing at 5 a.m. on Friday along the parade route.

Broad Street isn't expected to close to traffic until about 7 a.m., according to Action News Traffic Reporter Matt Pellman, but timing has been being adjusted as needed.

The city asks drivers to obey all "Temporary No Parking" signs. Vehicles parked in these locations during posted hours will be relocated.

There will be no enforcement of meter and time limit regulations on the day of the parade. However, safety violations, such as parking too close to the corner, fire hydrants, blocking crosswalks and double parking, will be enforced.

During the parade, several bicycle lanes along Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Broad Street, and streets in the vicinity will be inaccessible.

Cyclists are advised to use caution when traveling in the area.

There will be no access to the Schuylkill River Trail from the rear of the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Friday, February 14. Westbound travel on the Schuylkill Travel will terminate at Paine Skate Park.

The parade route will start at Broad and Pattison streets at 11 a.m. on Friday before heading north on Broad Street toward City Hall. It will then turn down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the Art Museum. The team expects the ceremony to finish at 3:15 p.m.

Tips on how to dress for Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl victory parade

Friday is going to be a blustery, cold day for the Eagles victory parade. That means fans will want to dress appropriately and be prepared.

Many were out Thursday buying new hats, gloves, and scarves ahead of a long day on the Ben Franklin Parkway.

Plan for sunny but chilly weather Friday for the Eagles parade

"Gloves. I'm going to have the championship hat, like the beanie like that," said Jackson Griffin from Northampton.

"We got our hat, we got our blanket, and we got 3/4 zip up," Dorthy Greenhalgh, who was buying to bundle up. "We'll be surrounded with love and Eagles fans so not worried about the weather."

"Comfort and warmth," said Yvette Holland, of North Philadelphia. "We're going down. We're gonna be cold, we have eagle jackets, hoodies, we're going down."

But with the crowd and the snow and rain the last few days, expect messy conditions.

In the aftermath of the 2018 Super Bowl parade, the Parkway was a field of mud, so expect your new, fancy green shoes to get covered in mud.

"I'm wearing my new Eagles gear," said Todd Schoenleber, who said he's not worried about the weather. "Because we're here for the birds."

Despite temperatures being below freezing overnight, Eric McClellan and Daishon Sanders said that didn't matter.

"I figure I'd be here first so I can get me a nice spot so I could see the whole thing," said Eric Mcclellan, of Southwest Philadelphia.

They claimed their spot near the Philadelphia Museum of Art at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. They're not leaving until the Super Bowl 59 champion Eagles roll through.

"We just ready to party," said Diashon Sanders, of South Philadelphia.
